Saint 101: Saint Michale the Archangel

Michael (Hebrew: מיכאל, Micha'el or Mîkhā’ēl; Greek: Μιχαήλ, Mikhaíl;
Latin: Michael or Míchaël; Arabic: ميكائيل, Mikha'il) is the archangel mentioned in the Book of Revelation 12:7; in the Old Testament Michael is mentioned by name in the Persian context of the post-Exilic Book of Daniel. He is generally presented as the field commander of the Army of God. There Michael appears as "one of the chief princes" (10:13) who in Daniel's vision comes to the angel Gabriel's aid in his contest with the angel of Persia, and is also described there as the advocate of Israel and "great prince who stands up for the children of your (Daniel's) people" (10:21, 12:1). The Talmud tradition rendered his name as meaning
"who is like El (God)(but literally "El's Likeness")" (compare the late prophet Micah), but according to Rabbi Simeon ben Lakish (AD 230–270), all the specific names for the angels were brought back by the Jews from Babylon, and many modern commentators would agree. Michael is one of the principal angels in Abrahamic tradition; his name was said to have been the war-cry of the angels in the battle fought in heaven against Satan and his followers.

Much of the late Midrash detail about Michael was transmitted to Christian mythology through the Book of Enoch whence it was taken up and further elaborated. In late medieval Christianity, Michael together with St George became the patron of chivalry, and the patron of the first chivalric order of France, the Order of Saint Michael of 1469. In the British honours system, a chivalric order founded in 1818 is also named for these two saints, the Order of St Michael and St George. St Michael is also considered in many Christian circles as the patron saint of the warrior. Police officers and soldiers, particularly paratroopers, regard him as their patron saint.

The numinous "captain of the host of the Lord" encountered by Joshua in the early days of his campaigns in the Promised Land (Joshua 5:13-15) has the character of Michael the Archangel, as the unnamed heavenly messenger is of supernatural and holy origin, likely sent by God:

Once when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing before him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went to him and said to him, 'Are you one of us, or one of our adversaries?' He replied, 'Neither; but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.' And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshipped, and he said to him, 'What do you command your servant, my lord?' The commander of the army of the LORD said to Joshua, 'Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy.' And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:13–15)

There is some controversy about this passage, however. An orthodox Christian interpretation would be that this person is the pre-Incarnate Christ. In other places in the Bible, angels do not accept the worship of humans (see Rev. 22:9 for an example); the willingness of this person to accept Joshua's worship implies that he was divine. However, it is not clear whether the angel was the subject of Joshua's worship or merely instigated worship of God.

Catholics refer to him as Saint Michael the Archangel and also simply as Saint Michael; here, "Saint" is a title meaning "holy", and is not meant to indicate that Michael is a saint (a human soul in heaven). Orthodox Christians refer to him as the Taxiarch Archangel Michael or simply Archangel Michael.

In the Epistle of Jude of the New Testament in verse 9, Michael disputes with the devil over the body of Moses. In Revelation 12:7-8, "And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven." John describes Satan being thrown out of heaven three and a half years from the end of the age, "a time, times and half a time" Revelation 12:14. Satan being thrown from heaven coincides with the "abomination that causes desolation" as spoken of by the prophet (Daniel 9:27).

When God says NO to our prayers?

Sometimes, God will answer, “No” to our desperate prayers. Any delay or unexpected outcome must not dishearten us.

What is God’s true purpose in answering our prayers (John 14:13)?

What does God want to complete in us through prayer (John 16:23–24)?

God wants us to bring our every need to Him as He answers (yes or no) according to His character and will. God will never grant requests contrary to His will. While receiving a “Yes” usually makes us happy, God never promised us happiness. Happiness is based on circumstances.

God wants us to have everlasting joy -- especially when He responds,

“No, it will be done in My time, not yours.

No, I will reveal My glory.”

I am now ready to become a fotog?

Photography can easily become an expensive hobby and is definitely an expensive profession. The equipment used is high-tech and precise. The best equipment costs more and any photographer would want to work with the best.

A friend suggested to start from the basics.

“Basic” is the key. In photography the camera itself is one of the least important tools in terms of needing the best. Aside from a few new digital factors such as mega-pixels and sensor size, one camera doesn’t really differ that much from the rest. Get one that’s solid and comfortable but put your first big investment in the lenses and other accessories.

Sometimes this isn’t practical. As for sports photographer investing in the camera that takes 8 frames a second may be a good idea, otherwise reward yourself with a better camera some time down the road.

Lenses should be those that best suit your immediate needs. A wide aperture lens for those wishing to get into event photography, a stabilized zoom lens for those into wildlife and a macro lens for those into flowers, etc . etc etc . . .. Each lens get the appropriate filters.

Some basic starting filters are UV and skylight filters as well as polarizing filters. If you plan on shooting under heavy lights then, in some cases, a tungsten filter will be a necessity he said

Lights may or may not be a good thing to purchase next. Example, a flash, is a great tool but can often get in the way of a person learning the art. It is often advised to avoid using a flash until you’ve learned how to compose pictures with available light he further suggested.

This helps the photographer become more astute. If you are looking to get into event photography then a flash may be an unavoidable purchase in which case aim to get one with a rotating and tilting head. Along with the flash, purchase a bounce.

People making their own prints these days are setting up digital darkrooms. For this you’ll definitely need a fast computer with a lot of memory because if you’re looking for serious quality you’ll be working with RAW images that can be a hundred megabytes in size. Relative to printer, invest in one that can hold actual rolls of paper as this will work out better for you in the long run.

By the time you have all of this, any other equipment you need will suggest itself to you. Before I forget, when buying a camera, lenses and the filters, make sure you get yourself a bag big enough to carry everything!

And finally he said . . . Mike andam na ka. . . maniniyot.

Ginoo, Walay Sukod (Praise Song) - MYMP

Self Denial

In this Sunday’s Gospel we hear Jesus who says:
Gospel
Mt 16:21-27

“Whoever wants to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me. Because whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

“Denying ourselves,” therefore, is not a work of death, but one of life, of beauty and of joy. It is also a learning of the language of true love. Imagine, said the great Danish philosopher Kierkegaard, a purely human situation. Two young people love each other. But they belong to two different nations and speak completely different languages. If their love is to survive and grow, one of them must learn the language of the other. Otherwise, they will not be able to communicate and their love will not last.

Denying yourself is learning the language of God so that we can communicate with him, but it is also learning the language that allows us to communicate with each other. We will not be able to say “yes” to the other... beginning our own household . . . if we are not first of all able to say “no” to ourselves.

Thank You, Gracias, Maraming Salamat . . . San Lorenzo Ruiz.

Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao discuss now-official Dec. 6 bout.

After three weeks of negotiations, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao made it official, agreeing to fight in a 12-round non-title bout Dec. 6 (my bday) in what's expected to be a blockbuster pay-per-view event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

not only Isreal - but he protects me too.

As the Chief Commander of the Heavenly hosts, he usually holds a sword in one hand. In the other he often carries carries a either a shield, date-tree branch, a spear, or a white banner (possibly with a scarlet cross).

He is most likely to be wearing red.

In many instances, he tramples the devil under his feet, which may be depicted as a dragon.

This comes from the tradition that he was the main opponent of Satan in the battle for Heaven. Satan was always looking to discredit Israel, while he was its main protector.

In the end, Satan attempted to drag him down in his fall from the heights, but he was rescued by God.

I know him well.
You too will know more of him soon...

he will be joing us soon...

He is viewed as the good

Angel of Death

(as opposed to
Samael, the evil Angel of Death),

and as the field commander of the Army of God.

wait and we will
know of him very soon

Do you know who is he?

He is mentioned in the Scriptures:

in Daniel 10:13,31; 12:1 (where he is said to be the prince of the people of Israel);

in Jude 9 (where he is said to have disputed with the devil about the body of Moses);

and in Revelation 12:7 (where he is said to have led the heavenly armies against those of the great dragon).

He is generally pictured in full armor, carrying a lance, and with his foot on the neck of a dragon.

Lutong Noodle na Masarap . . . .

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and
health.

Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles
into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3
minutes and then it's ready to eat.

This is *the **WRONG* method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally
with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to
be toxic.

The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are
coated with wax (lilin) and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete
the wax after you have taken the noodles.*

CORRECT METHOD:
1. boil the noodles in a pot with water.
2. once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax (lilin)
3. boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot
boiling water and then shut the fire.

4. only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot,
put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.

5. however, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles and add the
ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.

Please share this info and help save a life.

And I don’t know how I knew it

But I knew it somehow
You’re the answer to the question
No one’s answered till now
And I don’t know what you see
What you see in me
Girl it’s nothing to what I see in you

Stars that glisten
Lips for kissin’
Honey listen it’s true
No one ever loved you better
I love ya honey

And I’ve known a girl or two
But none of them was you
And they could never be what you are to me

Stars that glisten
Lips for kissin’
Honey listen it’s true
No one ever loved you better
I love ya honey I love you

I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
