Todos Los Santos

All Saints Day: Not a sad event, but a joyous reaffirmation of life.

November 1 is celebrated throughout the Catholic world as Día de Todos Santos, or All Saints Day, to honor all the saints, known and unknown, of the Catholic faithful.

Every day of the year has its own saint or saints, but there are more saints than calendar days, and this one major holy day honors them all, including those who had died in a state of grace but had not been canonized.

And, to keep things fair,

November 2 is celebrated as the Day of All Souls.

Día de Todos Santosis also known as Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.

Like many other Catholic celebrations, in the New World it was grafted onto existing indigenous festivities to meld the "new" Catholicism with the "old" pagan beliefs.

For all our departed brothers and sisters here's a prayer for them:

"The glorious company of the apostles praise Thee.
The goodly fellowship of the prophets praise Thee.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise Thee.
All Thy saints and elect with one voice do acknowledge Thee,
O Blessed Trinity, one God!"

ON SATURDAY, Filipinos will troop the sanctuaries of our dead. For the rich and can afford, they usually lay their departed loved ones to memorial parks, mausoleums and columbaries while those who do not have such opulence, to Catholic or municipal cemeteries.

I am now in my adulthood and Undas has another meaning for me. It's the time to revere, honor and give respect to our loved ones who physically left this world and are now with the Divine Creator.

It is a once-a-year visit to the resting place of their remains to pray, to talk and to commune with them as we cherish each memory they left when they were still on earth. It's an opportune time to remember them and express our love not only during their stint in this world but even beyond their lifetime.

For a Catholic-dominated country like the Philippines, our closely knitted family ties trait with our kin is worth preserving. We always tend to show our endearment to our love relatives, friends and even acquaintances beyond their earthly existence.

I saw what All Saints' Day is in other countries and witnessed how much it differs from us. The Catholic Church has consistently encouraged the offering of prayers and Mass for the souls. Like any other Catholic activity, we should "religiously and faithfully" attend to the Undas not only for the sake of celebrating it but to express our unending love and pray for the souls of the departed.

Happy Halloween to all and may everyone appreciate and observe the sanctity and serenity of the Undas and the real meaning of visiting our lost loved ones.

quits lang

"Pag hindi ka mahal

ng mahal mo wag ka magreklamo.

Kasi may mga tao
rin na di mo mahal
pero mahal ka..

Kaya quits lang.

o O o

Kahit inibig mo sya ay
Mahal pa rin kita
Kahit nilimot mo pa
Ikaw pa rin sa aking alaala

Ewan ko bakit mahal kita
Tunay nga ikaw lang talaga
Ang hinahanap, tinatawag ng puso

Iibigin ko'y ikaw pa rin sinta
Maghihintay ako yan ang tandaan mo
Tunay na hindi pa rin magbabago
Aking nadarama ito'y para sa iyo.

Kahit nasasaktan pa, pag-ibig ko'y
Sadyang sa 'yo sinta
Kahit may mahal ka nang iba.

Kahit puso'y nag-iisa
Di ako hahanap ng iba
Kahit nangungulila pa
Ay di pa rin iibig sa iba

I Love You!

I loved you, and I probably still do,

And for a while the feeling may remain...
But let my love no longer trouble you,

I do not wish to cause you any pain.

I loved you; and the hopelessness I knew,

The jealousy, the shyness - though in vain -

Made up a love so tender and so true

As may God grant you to be loved again.

Sarili Mo .
